About Vitruvian Man by Leonardo da Vinci

Vitruvian Man, also known as Study of the Proportions of the Human Body, is one of Leonardo da Vinci’s best-known drawings. The original sheet is held by Gallerie dell’Accademia in Venice. It shows a male figure in two superimposed positions, placed inside a circle and a square, with Leonardo’s handwritten notes above and below the figure.

The drawing connects art, anatomy, geometry, and architectural proportion. Leonardo worked from ideas linked to the Roman architect Vitruvius and used the human body to study measure, balance, and structure.
